About Kusini Villa

Tasteful beachfront villa on Kenya's beautiful Lamu Island
Named after the South Monsoon wind, Kusini Villa offers a mix of Arabic and Swahili style. Nestled among lush gardens, this spacious holiday villa is situated just above Kizingoni Beach, a 24-acre stretch of golden sand, close to the southernmost tip of historical Lamu Island (20-minutes by boat from the towns of Shela and Lamu). The quaint fishing village of Kipungani supplies many of the furnishings to this secluded hideaway, giving it a charming, local feel. A fantastic holiday destination for family and friends along a spectacular stretch of the Northern Kenyan coastline.

Property details

The property

Kusini is a spacious villa with plenty of areas that lend themselves to al fresco dining or relaxing. There are two large verandas: one on the ground level overlooking the pool, and one on the top (third) level to take advantage of sea and sunset views. The central lounge area is built in traditional style, with white washed walls, high wooden beam ceilings and sunken seating covered in plush cushions. Leading off from this is the large, frangipani-lined swimming pool - the natural focal point of the house and a perfect gathering area for parties.

The rooms

Sleeping 8 guests, Kusini Villa has a wonderful sense of space and privacy, with private verandas, views over the ocean and comfortable, couch-filled nooks to tuck oneself into. The first floor has a stunning master bedroom wing with an ensuite bathroom, traditional sunken bath and two balconies. The ground floor has two spacious ensuite rooms, and outside are a further two ensuite guest bedrooms with private verandas. All have Lamu-style, built in beds and traditional furnishings.

Activities

With the beach close by, there is plenty to keep water-lovers occupied - and having your own boat and captain is a luxury addition. There is snorkelling, fishing, windsurfing, SUP boarding, wakeboarding and kayaking on the waters, as well as all the equipment to do so. On land take a walk on the wonderful beach in the early hours, try a sunset dhow cruise or simply spend time next to Kusini's idyllic pool.
