Not far from the paper lantern-lit lanes and historic architecture of Hoi An's old town, La Siesta pays homage to Vietnam's original port city. Set across two wings, the decor and character spans multiple generations, from the hanging basket buffets to the stone statues that pour water into the pools (there are two). Yes, La Siesta may be mod and well-manicured but it remembers its roots well. Enjoy snoozes on the day beds and coffee body wraps at the spa before seeing the sights of Hoi An - the town centre is just a short walk away and you'll be rewarded with stellar street food.

In the Classic Wing, the Red Bean is a bright and casual dining spot where you'll enjoy Quang Nam province delicacies, as well as cocktails at the Feliz Bar (it's always happy hour there). The Club Wing is where you'll find The Temple, so named after the community temple just next door, which serves a menu of Asian-European fusion. Each wing has a large pool at its centre and the lovely spa is decked out with saunas, a Jacuzzi, and a world-class selection of massages.
Across both wings, the rooms range from stylish and understated to a warm, vintage feel. All are furnished with handcrafted teak beds and cabinets, classic decor, and deep wooden or Victorian bathtubs. The rooms in the Club Wing open onto the saltwater infinity pool with a bevy of shaded loungers, whilst suites feature amenities such as pools, Swedish saunas, a shared private garden, and the attentive service of your own butler. Finished with soft creams and grey-blues, the Executives Duplex Suites have a lounge and dining area for added privacy.
The best thing to do in Hoi An is to follow your feet, down spindly, winding alleys, to find stalls full of treasures, over the Japanese bridges to discover your new favourite meal, and past the myriad facades that paint a vivid picture of the city's history. Learn to whip up its unique and varied cuisines at a cooking class, cycle into the countryside, or hop on the hotel's complimentary shuttle for a day at the beach.
The gentle, undisturbed atmosphere where you can do as little as you like - the team takes care of every detail.
La Siesta may not be by the seaside but it has a daily shuttle that runs to An Bang Beach, of which their guests enjoy a reserved stretch of sand.
The rooms may feel lacking in character if aesthetics are at the top of your list.
