Property details

The property

Lake Masek Tented Camp has a well appointed, cosy lounge and dining area built on wooden stilts to take full advantage of the breath taking views. Perched in the virgin bush like a long-legged bird, it sits well within its splendid setting. The elegant but functional decor creates a welcoming environment to meet fellow travellers or simply soak up the view with a loved one - a view you are unlikely to forget in a hurry.

The rooms

There are twenty en-suite luxury canvas tents dotted across the camp. In keeping with the communal areas of the camp, the room tents are built on raised wooden platforms with private verandas. Guests can choose between rooms with king-sized, twin or triple beds. Each tent has dark wood furniture and, in the case of the double rooms, a four-poster bed draped romantically with mosquito netting. The bathrooms boast both showers and large bathtubs - ideal for a good soak.

Activities

Game drives into the Southern Serengeti showcase the region's incredible wildlife. At the camp itself, guests can discover the fauna and flora on guided bushwalks. There’s also the option of a private meal in the middle of the bush - well worth experiencing. During the Great Migration season, you can take to the skies in a colourful hot air balloon. Visits to the local archeological sites, Olduvai and Laetoli, will shed light on the story of evolution.

Something to think about

This area of the Serengeti doesn't have animals around every corner (apart from when the Great Migration is in town from December to March) but there are good populations of resident cheetah and lion year-round so you really shouldn't be disappointed.
