About Las islas

A heavenly island haven just off the coast of Cartagena where every day is a beach day.
Hop aboard a speedboat in Cartagena and race across the bay towards Las Islas, a corner of paradise to call home for a few days. On arrival, a waiting golf cart will whisk you through the trees and wild orchids to your bungalow amongst the canopy. You'll have ample opportunity to explore the island on e-bikes or navigate the mangroves in a glass-bottomed kayak, eyes peeled for flocks of flamingos. On your return, order a fruity cocktail at the Clubhouse, and soak up the 360-degree views, the sound of waves lapping the white-sand shores and a gentle breeze ruffling the lush greenery...

Property details

The property

At the centre of the resort is the Clubhouse restaurant and bar for superb ceviche dinners followed by drinks at the panoramic Las Islas Bar. Up here, there's an indulgent spa with a saltwater infinity pool, as well as a second 'swimming 'pool. There's also an over-the-water restaurant, which you can swim right up to for a delicious meal of Caribbean-style grilled fish (and a range of other seafood), and several beachside bars with live music spilling out where you can recline with your toes in the sand.

The rooms

Take your pick from a variety of thatched, stilted bungalows, either tucked amongst tropical forest or at eye-level with the ocean. Despite its size, the resort has a bespoke feel with gorgeous bamboo bathrooms and handwoven hammocks for afternoon snoozes. The rooms have large canopy beds and quirky furnishings, whilst other amenities include a TV, Nespresso machine, minibar, aircon and wifi. A favourite is Bungalow 30 with its oversized private pool and sweeping sea views.

Activities

There is a bevy of loungers and umbrellas on the beachfront, where you can spend all day reclining, or paddle out to the floating platform. You can also delve beneath the surface for a spot of snorkelling – the island sits within an underwater national park with an incredible reef – SUP along the coastline, or wait for nighttime for a boat trip amongst the bioluminescent plankton. The resort also offers cooking classes (learn to make ceviche and shrimp cocktails), stargazing, and trips to the National Aviary.
