The thatched main area has a well-stocked bar, private tables for dining (although meals can be arranged in a number of outdoor locations too) and a shaded lounge area that is perfect for reading and relaxing during the day. Outside, the gardens are worth exploring, especially if you're a keen gardener and birdlover. There's an unusual giraffe design pool, board games and table tennis equipment.
The 11 safari tents can be laid out as doubles or twins. (Three can accommodate triples for children under 16 only.) Each thatch-covered tent has a fireplace, a main bedroom, an en-suite bathroom and a spacious veranda. There are also two family tent suites, each consisting of two en-suite safari tents (one double, one twin) with a shared veranda. The beds are large and welcoming, draped with mosquito nets, and the bathrooms are rustically charming.
Game drives and walking safaris are always successful. Lewa also offers evening horse rides, which let you get close to the plains game, as long as you're an experienced rider. If not, rock onto a camel instead! Your mount may be less elegant, but it's a perfect way to see the action. The camels are led by Samburu handlers. Breakfast or toast the setting sun in the bush, visit a Samburu village or chill at the lodge. The choice is yours.
Lewa Safari Camp is owned by Elewana collection which are rooted in the concept of harmony, as reflected in their Kiswahili-inspired name. Through the Land & Life Foundation, Elewana is dedicated to fostering the sustainable coexistence between communities and wildlife across East Africa. Shanga, an initiative under the foundation, empowers individuals with disabilities through artistic expression and economic opportunities, epitomising Elewana's commitment to authentic experiences and positive impact.
