Established in 1972 in the Lewa Conservancy in Northern Kenya, Lewa Wilderness is one of the country's oldest safari camps where you can see the Big Five in unaffected and authentic comfort. Found inside 62,000 acres of conserved land, the camp is surrounded by well maintained gardens and views stretching over the valley and towards the hills. Here conservation and respect for the wildlife work hand in hand with a passionate team dedicated to creating an unpretentious and memorable guest experience. In the words of the owners grandfather, "Always make room for wildlife"

Spacious, comfortable and filled with rustic allurement the nine exclusive thatched chalets each with their own open fire places, lounge area and private verandahs. Six of the cottages are tucked along the hillside, with sweeping views and spectacular sunsets right from your bed. Incredibly spacious and decorated with some of the owners own handmade furniture. The remaining three are equally spacious; en-suite rooms joined by a lounge and communal fireplace with views over the green lawns and garden-perfect for families.
Owners Will and Emma Craig still call Lewa Wilderness Lodge their home and you'll feel like a good friend who has come to stay in their very stylish pad.
Lewa is probably most famous for its rhinos and the conservancy is dedicated to protecting their population of critically-endangered black rhinos. By simply staying here you are contributing to the research and protection, but there are plenty of others ways to help if you would like to.
Game viewing in Laikipia is about quality over quantity. Whilst the Masai Mara will give you sightings in their hundreds, in Lewa it's more about seeing the rare species and having fewer other tourists around you.
