Venture to the thatched communal area for meals (simple but delicious cuisine with buffet breakfasts so fabulous you won't be able to resist seconds). There are comfortable seating areas, a well-stocked bar, a shaded deck on which to relax with a drink and watch the animal cavalcade, a spa and a nearby gym.
You're assured a peaceful stay in one of Londolozi Founders' 10 intimate chalets, reached from the main area via winding paths. Furnished in classic safari style, all have huge mahogany beds, deep leather couches, military chests, safari lamps, full bathrooms with a view and a riverside lounge sala. Rise to the haunting call of the African fish eagle, chill on the deck as you watch the animals meander past and escape the afternoon heat in your private plunge pool.
Morning and late afternoon game drives focus on tracking the wildlife, whether you're interested in seeing it all or want to focus on a single species, such as rhino or leopard. Visit between May and July to enjoy a bush walk, with breakfast or a picnic in the wilderness. Look out for the 450-odd species of birds. Or try catch-and-release fishing. When the action is over, take part in a yoga session, have a massage. For children, there are special programmes to teach them about the natural world.
A safari that surpasses every expectation awaits in this vast wilderness just west of the Kruger National Park.
