The piece de resistance of the stylish camp, the main area is a Moroccan-style villa complete with water features, red earthen pillars and pretty blue and white sofas and armchairs. A high thatched roof keeps things nice and cool and the infinity pool, overlooking the manicured lawns, is close at hand for a quick dip when the temperature really heats up. In the evening, dinner is served next to the river with the soundtrack of the hippos below.
Just 5 chalets stretch away from the main area creating an intimate and personal atmosphere in camp. Each room is raised on a wooden deck affording panoramic river views from every corner and the huge king-size beds look straight out to the water. Décor is stylish and fun with intricate and beautiful carvings adorning the walls and all the little luxuries have been taken care of. Romantics will love the claw-foot bathtubs in the vast en-suite bathrooms.
With a maximum of 10 guests allowed in the camp, there is lots of flexibility when it comes time to decide how you want to do your game viewing. Choose from morning and evening game drives, all day drives with picnic lunches, walking safaris or a combination of all of them to really make the most of the park! In the green season, boat safaris down the flowing river are also possible and a beautiful way to see the surrounds.
Luangwa River Camp is owned by Robin Pope Safaris, and committed to responsible tourism that benefits the environment, wildlife conservation, and local communities. They employ green technology, support anti-poaching efforts, provide healthcare and education, and promote local trade. Staff are treated fairly, trained extensively, and encouraged to advance. Their operations aim to protect ecosystems and alleviate poverty through sustainable practices. A contribution of $10 per guest, which is included in the nightly rate, goes towards the above goals.
