About Manzili House

Beautifully designed and wonderfully tranquil, Manzili is the ideal home-away-from-home.
A quiet oasis at the foot of the lush Ngong Hills, Manzili House was inspired by the coral stone structures on Lamu Island. You might feel like there's nothing around for miles, but its location in the Karen suburb of Nairobi means Manzili is close to plenty of the city's highlights. The rooms are a cocoon of cream tones and textiles, minimalist furnishings, and clever details like side tables made from found animal horns. After a day of exploring in town, find yourself on the rooftop terrace with a chilled drink, just in time for sunset...

Property details

The property

The main house and smaller Manzili Ndoto can both be booked exclusively, each of them decked out with a gleaming, open-plan kitchen and cosy lounge where the fireplace often crackles in the evenings. Manzili House also boasts a bar and elegant dining room lined with bold artwork. In between them, there is a shared plunge pool shaded by tall trees, which lead into the pretty gardens. Enjoy relaxing moments in the courtyard or on the roof for the best views.

The rooms

The main house has four rooms while Manzili Ndoto has two, all ranging in size from 36 to 75 square metres. The rooms have hardwood floors, cream walls with moulded nooks, and large, arched windows to let in plenty of natural light. Each room also has a dedicated outdoor sitting area with views of the pool or gardens. Storage is no problem thanks to the large open wardrobes and the bathrooms are decorated in the same understated style.

Activities

We wouldn't blame you for simply reclining by the pool with a drink (and remaining there for meals too!), but if you fancy venturing out, there's plenty to do. Visit the giraffe centre and join them at feeding time, adopt an elephant at the Sheldrick orphanage, or head into Nairobi for a guided tour of its art galleries, museums and shopping spots. The Maasai Market is a definite favourite!
