About Mara Bushtops Camp

Wild luxury at this five-star tented camp on the Masai Mara's boundary
Mara Bushtops lies within the Siana Group Ranch area, in a private conservancy close to the main gateway of the Masai Mara National Reserve. This part of Kenya is renowned for its superb game viewing, with an abundance of plains game that supports a thriving predator population, and the lodge is well placed for easy access into the reserve. The private concession offers plenty of action in its own right, so you’re able to enjoy exclusive game viewing away from the busier tourist routes. The lodge offers sensational tented accommodation with bags of East African style, and world-class hospitality.

Property details

The property

The main guest area has a reception foyer with a well-stocked curio shop, and several relaxed outdoor seating areas beyond the chic, colonial-style lounge. There's a wide outdoor terrace and a magnificent infinity pool, with views over the waterhole and surrounding plains. The restaurant (cuisine, like the lodge, is five-star) and spa overlook a natural, mineral-rich salt lick that's visited by game day and night. Adjacent to the lick, the camp fire is a perfect place for sundowners.

The rooms

Paths lead to 12 tented suites, all well spaced apart for absolute privacy. The interiors are sumptuously large, their ceilings draped elaborately and canvas side panels opening up completely to give all-round wilderness views. The largest suite has two bedrooms linked via an intimate lounge, and is perfect for families. Sheltered decks have a dining area and a comfortable lounge, and a delightful hot tub on the far edge. Bathrooms are en suite, with indoor and outdoor showers.

Activities

Early-morning and afternoon game drives in the Masai Mara Reserve (the lodge is just five kilometres from the main gate); night drives – with special night-vision equipment – are conducted in the private conservancy. Wildlife you can expect to see include elephant and buffalo, wild cats, abundant plains game and even exciting encounters with African wild dogs. Birdwatchers will relish bush walks around the lodge, and the staff are happy to arrange a visit to nearby Masai villages.
