Constructed entirely on stilts amongst brilliant foliage, Mara Toto is centred around the lounge and dining areas. You'll enjoy hearty meals with fantastic variety at the communal dining tables, always accompanied by a selection of fine wines. Your evenings will be spent around the outdoor firepit as the calls of the wild fill the air. Throughout the camp, there is complimentary wifi access and guests may also use the in-house Canon camera; when it's time to leave, your photos will be loaded onto a handy memory stick.
Overlooking the flowing Ntiakitiak River, the rooms are set high above the ground on elevated decks. Built from canvas and wood, they have a rustic, down-to-earth feel and feature campaign-style furnishings including a desk and comfy lounge area. The bathrooms are rather impressive, decked out with a copper bathtub, shower and double vanity areas, as well as cosy dressing gowns and a hairdryer. Each suite has its own pair of high-quality binoculars and fully-equipped Canon camera.
The camp offers game drives within the Masai Mara National Reserve as well as the 28,000-hectare Mara North Conservancy. You'll explore in one of two specially-designed Land Cruisers, which are entirely open-sided and have a fully-stocked fridge to boot. Apart from the scores of big cats, elephant and antelope, this is a fantastic location to see either the Great Migration or the migration from Loita Plains. Hot air balloon flights and photography lessons are also available.
Mara Toto Tree Camp is owned by Great Plains which is dedicated to creating lasting, sustainable conservation solutions for the world's iconic wildlife and wilderness areas. Through their model of compassionate protection and intelligent management, funded by low-impact tourism, they integrate communities, governments, and the private sector. Embracing the concept of 'Conservation Tourism', they prioritise environmentally sound practices while ensuring benefits directly support conservation efforts without a negative impact on the land or wildlife. A contribution of $95 per guest, which is included in the nightly rate, goes towards the above goals.
