Property details

The property

On the one end of camp, you'll find the main restaurant (three delicious meals a day are included) and a lovely wooden viewing deck. Several tables and chairs are shaded by umbrellas, and make an idyllic dining spot, accompanied by ocean views. There's a smart bar next door, and the lounge and library are a peaceful spot to put your feet up with a good book. But maybe the choicest spot to hang out (besides the beach, of course) is the huge pool on the other side of hotel - just a few steps from the sand, surrounded by palms and recliners, and with its own bar.

The rooms

Massinga takes comfort seriously, and the sixteen ocean-front deluxe rooms all have king-size beds, comfortable armchairs and ensuite bathrooms with rain-showers, freestanding tubs and luscious toiletries. Oh, and all boast 180 degree sea views, and private decks with plunge pools. Wow. Behind the row of deluxe rooms, perched slightly higher on the hillside, but also with uninterrupted sea views, there are twelve family chalets. They have a double bedroom and a slightly larger lounge (and a sleeper couch for additional guests), though they lack the plunge pool on the deck.

Activities

Complimentary activities at Massinga include snorkelling, shore fishing, kayaking, beach-cruiser cycling, and there's also a variety of surf and boogie boards to ride the waves. If you're visiting between May and September, you may well spot a humpback whale from your deck, or get even closer on an ocean safari (2-3 hours, at extra cost). Dolphins are resident year-round. World-class diving can be arranged at nearby Bonito Bay, as can a catamaran fishing charter. Back at the hotel, a therapist is on call to provide a variety of massages and other treatments.
