The lounge is spacious with plenty of seating, high ceilings and huge glass doors looking out onto the river. The decor is lovely; understated but stylish, with accents of copper, stone and vivid blue fabrics. Often dining takes place on the patio, but meals can also be taken in the dining room with its impressive wooden table and glittering chandeliers. The extensive verandah leads out onto the swimming pool area, where you'll find several loungers and umbrellas - the perfect place to while away an afternoon.
There are four bedrooms in Matetsi River House, sleeping a total of eight guests. Two of the bedrooms are larger than the others with en-suite bathrooms, each one connecting a smaller room. The arrangement is ideal for families, though small groups are easily accommodated. Rooms are exquisite, with enormous beds wrapped in gauzy nets, leather and copper finishes and beautiful artwork adorning the walls. Mod-cons include air-conditioning, ceiling fans the best high-pressured showers we've ever had on safari.
With regards to arranging activities, your private guide can be as spontaneous or as scheduled as you'd like, and there's certainly lots to fit in! Game drive or walk on the surrounding Matetsi Reserve, or head out on the river for sundowner cruises, fishing trips and kayaking. 30-minutes away are the Falls themselves, where helicopter flights, bungee-jumping and whitewater rafting are all on offer, if you dare... For the less adventure-minded, we highly recommend Afternoon Tea at the Vic Falls Hotel or a stroll along the bridge for the best views of the water.
