The guest house lies along a quiet street in the heart of town. Steps lead up to the veranda and into the cool interior, which has a wonderful contemporary feel in contrast to the faded colonial exterior. The main hall leads through to a sheltered terrace and a beautiful courtyard garden, with a restaurant and bar along one side, and a comfortable lounge on the other. At night, the garden and swimming pool take on a romantic, magical feel under the soft glow of flickering lanterns.
Miti Miwiri has nine en-suite guest rooms which, depending on the layout, can accommodate two, three or four people. The rooms have a delightfully simple African feel, with chunky timber furniture, colourful fabrics, crisp mosquito nets, and ceiling fans to keep the fierce tropical heat at bay. Each room has a private balcony, with lovely views over the courtyard garden and swimming pool, or to the quiet streets of Ibo Island town in front.
Ibo Island has much to offer in the way of historic monuments, beautiful architecture, and magnificent beaches – guided bicycle tours are a great way to take in all the sights and meet the super friendly locals going about their daily lives. Snorkelling conditions are superb, and scuba diving can be arranged, together with kayaking and birdwatching along the mangrove channels. A romantic sunset cruise on a traditional Arab dhow is a wonderful way to round off the day.
A group of enigmatic, dreamlike and unexplored islands with lodges that epitomise barefoot luxury.
