About Montemar Eco Luxury Villas
Montemar are the first exclusive, sustainable villas in the Galapagos Islands, launched in 2019. Owned and run by a local couple of conservationists with studies in biology and ecology, experts in all things Galapagos, Montemar’s hosts, Roberto and his wife Reyna, provide an authentic, transformative and personalized experience in the archipelago with the minimum environmental impact. Nothing beats being personally looked after by the owners.
Montemar is the only property in Galapagos that is practically off-the-grid: they produce most of their energy, harvest all water from the rain, produce their own food in the organic farm, and use mostly local materials for the construction of the villas. Montemar is at the forefront of sustainability in Galapagos and a key member of the community.
The property consists of two villas, Villa Tortuga with four bedrooms(capacity up to 8 guests) and Villa Lechuza with two bedrooms (capacity up to 4 guests). The villas offer comfort, privacy and that homely feel that is never found at a hotel, both are fully equipped with great taste and high quality, luxurious amenities, high thread count sheets, sleek décor and include private chefs and housekeeping staff. The maximum capacity at Montemar is 12 guests, who love the peace and connection with the natural environment, habitat of Galapagos’ most iconic species, the Giant Tortoises – the gentle creatures love roaming around our 43-acre property located in El Carmen, Santa Cruz Island.
They offer carefully planned itineraries to explore the islands during the day and come back to the comfort of the villa where the private chef creates delicious meals using the freshest of organic produce from the biodynamic farm. For travelers looking for something different, totally bespoke, 100% sustainable, Montemar is the ideal choice.
