Mount Meru is located in the heart of Arusha National Park, an area home to giraffe, buffalo, antelope and an array of birdlife. As the seventh highest mountain in Africa (third in Tanzania), expect a moderate to tough climb with technically difficult sections. Starting in the lowlands of Arusha National Park, the scenery changes from verdant forest and lush savannah to desolate rocky slopes, when approaching the summit. Your nights will spent in designated climbing cabins also know as a 'bunk houses.' These have a simple but comfortable setup, providing solace from the elements during the colder nights.
