With its thatched roofs, wooden decking and furniture made of recycled wood from dhows which were once sailing the Indian Ocean around Tanzania, Mukambi has succeeded in creating a relaxed and stylish, yet authentically African atmosphere. The open-sided lounge, bar and and restaurant areas are perfectly designed to lend wonderful views out over the river and you can dine in the evening by candlelight whilst listening to the music of the African bush.
The lodge offers a range of accommodation, all of which is spacious, well designed and comfortable. There are 7, two-person, en-suite chalets with queen size beds and one family chalet with a rondavel-style bathroom and lounge. Positioned right on the river is one luxury family villa with 2 ensuite bedrooms, a living room and an extensive wooden deck. The prime choice however, are the 4 luxury tents, each with king beds, spectacular views, a private deck and an outside bath.
There is plenty to do here with twice-daily safari drives (complete with the added novelty of crossing the river to reach the safari vehicles which are kept in the park), walking safaris within the park with highly experienced rangers (except during the wetter months of December to May), fishing trips and sunset cruises on the river. Following your morning activity, you will also have the opportunity to visit the affiliated Mukambi Community School, implemented by the lodge's owners.
A magical landscape on an epic scale where cheetah and lion roam free, yet tourists rarely visit.
