Nairobi Tented Camp is an authentic tented camp in boasting an uneatable location. Set beneath an indigenous canopy in one of Nairobi's most peaceful, forested neighborhoods, and just minutes away from the airport, Nairobi's biggest attractions are never far. The camp is on the doorstep of Nairobi National Park, a wildlife haven with guaranteed rhino sightings. Offering guests the opportunity to really get to know this unique destination and its wildlife, you'll enjoy the luxury of en-suite living ‘safari style’ in their comfortable tents.

Property details

The property

The main area consists of a central mess tent, from which meals are served. There are lounge and campfire areas with sofas and hammocks, as well as a bar and a library with books and games. At night stories are told under the campfire under the stars before dinner. Low watt LED lighting in each of the tents are run off rechargeable batteries and solar panels, or else guests can enjoy the romance of candles and lanterns.

The rooms

There are nine tents accommodating two people each. Each tent has a twin or double bed, bedside tables, a torch, gas and kerosene lanterns, a wardrobe for hanging your clothes, a writing desk with a lamp, sheepskin carpets, chairs and a table on the veranda for relaxing, and a luggage rack. They also have en-suite toilets with bucket showers and basins. Hot water is heated over a log fire and bought to your shower when you’re ready.

Activities

The camps vehicles are on a private-hire basis, so how is you spend your time exploring Nairobi is up to you. In the afternoon you can enjoy backgammon games in the main tent or read one of the many books in the library. Or, visit the David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage, the Giraffe Centre, the Karen Blixen Museum or The Kenya National Museum. You can also go shopping for local arts and crafts.
