After a long days ride the truck will meet you with iced drinks and all the kit one needs out in the desert for a comfortable and relaxing evening under the stars. At sunset the overnight camp is set up before dinner - a belly-warming Namibian affair of wild game, free-range beef or Karoo mutton with vegetables followed by a cooked dessert all done over the open fire while you enjoy your well deserved drink. Despite the basic set up of this mobile camp there is definitely a hint of well deserved luxury to be reveled in after a long day in the saddle.
Tents? What tents? One of the highlights of this trip is undoubtedly snuggling up in a down duvet on a raised camp bed without even a mosquito net to block out the clear stars of the Namibian sky. You won't find any light pollution around here! When you reach Cape Cross however a bed will be awaiting you in a comfortable lodge.
Apart from the incredible riding through this geological dreamscape, one of the first events of the trip is going to the Twylfelfontein Rock Engravings from the main camp. Along the way prepare for sightings of many desert adapted animals such as elephants, rhino, oryx and springbok. Then to conclude your trip at Cape Cross Lodge there is an excursion to see the Cape Fur Seal Colony.
