Situated in a leafy area of camp, the main thatched lodge feels like a chill out sanctuary. Inside you’ll find the bar (under a canvas tent lit with fairy lights) and the unpretentious dining area. The seating outside is surrounded by indigenous trees and birdsong. Make yourself comfortable on one of the many cushioned wooden couches and enjoy the forest atmosphere. WiFi is available in this area and plug points to charge your electronics.
Uber-comfortable beds, hot water on tap, around the clock, tasteful interior design and bright, traditional African print dressing gowns … the tents at Ndarakwai rock. The bathroom has a built-in shower, basin and toilette so it’s just as comfortable as home despite being remote in the Tanzanian wilderness. The 15 large tents also have wooden floors decorated with woven rugs, beautifully-crafted furniture, writing desks, clothing storage racks and a day bed. A simple but tastefully-decorated safari tent.
Nights drives and walking safaris are some of the experiences guests enjoy the most. Heading out on game drive after dark gives you an opportunity to spot the nocturnal creatures beyond the resident bush baby. The former farmland is now home to over 70 mammal species and birders will have about 300 species to keep them occupied. There are twice-daily game drives, so plan your arrival or departure to make the most of this offering.
