The appeal of Kati Kati lies in its simplicity. It's the perfect answer for anyone whose idea of a safari is based on tales of the early adventurers – traditional canvas, functional furnishings, and a setting that’s hard to beat. At the heart of the camp is a spacious, acacia-shaded dining tent overlooking the plains. Meals are also served beneath the stars! There's a lounge tent and an open-air boma and fire pit around which guests share stories and nightcaps.
11 spacious double or twin tents plus an interlinked family tent offer basic comforts like sturdy, comfortable beds draped in mosquito nets, a small writing desk, and reed mats on the floor. Bathrooms are en-suite and separated from the bedroom by a canvas screen, with simple bucket showers and hot water supplied on request. The side panels can be rolled up to catch the breeze. Each tent has a small covered veranda in front with marvellous views across the surrounding bush.
Kati Kati is geared for guests on privately guided safaris, which means you’ll have absolute freedom and flexibility to explore this part of the Serengeti exactly as you wish. Spend the entire day following the herds of wildebeest, huge numbers of zebra and antelope, and the predators which follow. Here, the calving season coincides with the arrival of the migration, so you can expect some breathtaking viewing as countless young are born within the space of a few short weeks.
The organisation supports various community projects, including the de-snaring project in the Serengeti, medical care solutions like the Olmoti Clinic in Western Kilimanjaro, and educational opportunities like the Emusoi Centre in Arusha. Additionally, initiatives like the Children’s Health Program in Nairobi and contributions to Wildlife Management Areas and Tanzania National Parks underscore their commitment to community well-being and environmental conservation.
