Mkombe’s House is ingeniously constructed from simple, natural materials (palm-thatch, canvas, and rough-hewn poles), creating open, breezy spaces that bring the outside in. Inside, there’s a large dining room, with twinkly glass tiles and soothing colours, a lounge area with big sofas and cosy chairs and even a projector/cinema room to keep the kids entertained. Outside, the maze of multi-level viewing decks open out to the views and house the two swimming pools, one of which is shallow and perfect for kids. Meals can also be served out here.
The four bedrooms are impeccably decorated with soft rugs, mohair bed throws and plenty of beautiful objets d’art, all locally-sourced. The two master bedrooms have canvas walls that can be rolled up to reveal the decking and view beyond, outdoor showers and ‘starbeds’ which can be wheeled onto the veranda for a night under the stars. The twin bedrooms are fully-enclosed but still very pretty and the bathrooms have everything you’ll need.
With a private guide and vehicle at your service, your days at Mkombe’s will be customised entirely to suit you. Game drives are probably the preferred method of exploration, and you can choose to set off early in the morning, stay out late, or perhaps pack a picnic and spend a full day adventuring. Bush walks are offered depending on the length of grass and at an extra cost, hot air ballooning can also be arranged. Alternatively, the swimming pool and viewing decks are the ideal places to unwind – and still offer a chance to catch up on your wildlife watching.
Mkombe's House is owned by Nomad Tanzania, their mission is to unlock life-enhancing opportunities wherever they're needed.
