As with any true camp, the heart of this mobile camp is its fire, known affectionately at Nyikani Camp as the "bush television". Gather around its warmth and soak up the sheer awesomeness of the Serengeti, with nothing but darkness and flames between you and the Africa's most noble animals. Or head to the lounge tent and enjoy supper with a cold one from the bar. The camp has no boundary, so guests must be escorted by staff.
The five double en-suite tents and three family en-suite tents (each sleeping two adults and two children) are spacious and luxurious, without the bling. The tents are cosy and comfortable, with large, comfortable beds and seating, and handy items like torches, walkie-talkie and whistles to hand. The camp is solar-powered, and the water in each en-suite bathroom is hot and plentiful. Each tent has an outdoor seating area from which to soak in the views.
The Ndutu setting of this mobile camp is memorable in so many ways, not least for its astonishing views and eye-popping wildlife. Get the best and most endearing sightings between late January and early March, when the migration's birthing season is under way. Rise early to the sound of birdsong and animal calls and enjoy the sunrise over a wholesome bush breakfast, before choosing your day's activities – game drives, nature walks, hot air balloon rides and and camp luxuries aplenty!
