O On Kloof

Dive into the holiday spirit with a dip in the heated indoor pool before sauntering off to the deck to get that sun-kissed glow. Or bite down on delicious complimentary canapés while being mesmerised by sweeping views of the bay. Rub shoulders with fellow guests while enjoying a fresh and seasonal breakfast made from locally sourced ingredients, or a light meal for lunch or dinner. Retreat to the lounge for a lazy afternoon and choose from a range of DVD's, or simply lose yourself in a new book.

Large, welcoming beds, mini bars and tea/coffee making facilities make it difficult to leave the luxurious comforts of these rooms; throw in the climate control, DVD library and iPod docking station, and it's almost impossible. Four of the eight rooms come with the added benefit of a sea or mountain view; and those that don't are either garden-facing or a stone's throw from that ever-tantalising heated pool that you won't be able to keep away from.

Full moon hikes to the top of Lion's Head are a must for tourists and locals alike, especially when the mountain is on your doorstep and a short drive from O on Kloof (if there's time, try and discover the whereabouts of at least one of the three caves; they make the best photographs). The world-renowned Clifton Beaches are virtually on your doorstep for a refreshing (read: chilly) dip and some gorgeous sun-soaking, or if you fancy something a little more cultured, take a tour around the Western Cape's famed wine route.
