Beautifully stylish canvas rooms, spectacular 270 degree views and a truly fabulous location in the heart of the Mara Naboisho Conservancy, just outside the Masai Mara Reserve, are just a few of the reasons that we love Ol Seki. And then there’s the activities. The private conservancy is yours to explore as you wish and the game drives, night drives and walking safaris, all led by a team of fantastic local guides in their traditional red shukas, are intimate and private. And with only four other camps in 200 square kilometres, you see hordes of game, not hordes of tourists – just as it should be.

It’s all about the view at the main ‘Library’ tent and the innovative wooden platform and canvas structures are raised high on a ridge for endless views of the acacia-speckled plains. Décor is quintessential (but very stylish) safari with old-fashioned trunks as tables, brass lanterns and thankfully not many mod-cons. As the name suggests, there’s plenty of coffee-table literature to get stuck into too. Just down from the library is an open-air viewing deck, complete with camp fire to cosy up to on chilly mornings and evenings. Meals are in the destination of your choice - in the dining tent, in the bush or under the stars.
The ten rooms (six doubles and two family suites) are housed in cathedral-like canvas domes atop polished wooden platforms and share the same mesmerising views as the main area. Watching the sunrise from the comfort of the king-sized bed is particularly special. All are bright and breezy and white linens and drapes add a touch of elegance. The bathroom, complete with designer toiletries, is hidden at the back and the deck at the front is spacious and private. Sunbathing in front of the view is welcome!
Activities at Ol Seki focus on exploring the fantastically private Mara Naboisho conservancy and with only five camps sharing the entire space, you can enjoy the excellent cat sightings in peace. Game drives are taken in open 4x4 vehicles and walking and balloon safaris are possible too. The camp has strong links to the community and a visit to the local village and the Koiyaki Guiding School to find out more about the work of the conservancy is well worth it.
The elaborate and beautiful tents. Need we say more.
Like all lodges in the conservancy, Ol Seki has a strong relationship with the Maasai community, so pop down to the village with your guide and have a cup of tea and meet their families.
We recommend pairing Ol Seki with somewhere in the main reserve, especially if you are visiting during migration time and want to make the most of the wildebeest action.
