About Olympe de Bemaraha

Quaint and unpretentious, Olympe is an ideal gateway to the Tsingy de Bemaraha.
A UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most astonishing locations in Madagascar, the Tsingy of Bemaraha is a surreal scape, where great limestone needles shoot from the ground and rope bridges lead across deep chasms once covered by the ocean. The Olympe de Bemaraha is just two miles away, so adventure is definitely on the cards... Tucked amongst the trees, the rustic hotel is a collection of wooden bungalows and boutique rooms with a homely touch. After days spent adventuring to the fullest, there's nothing better than returning to Olympe and sipping on something chilled as the sun sets on Madagascar.

Property details

The property

Mostly built from wood, thatch and stone, Olympe's communal areas are easy-going and relaxed. Colourful dishes from the kitchen are served up on just as colourful woven placemats, and you'll likely dine on the terrace as often as possible. In the afternoon, grab a drink from the circular bar and head down to the seasonal pool for a dip or snooze - and that beautiful view. If you'd like a break from exploring, there is a TV lounge, library and games area, and a small spa offers massages too.

The rooms

Choose a room in the main hotel or in the separate wooden bungalows, all of which are adorned with bright patterns and polished wooden furnishings, including large canopy beds. The bungalows are ideal for added privacy and come with their own pool, entrance and balcony. They also cater well to small families with space for three. The bathrooms are neat and well-stocked but the size does vary depending on your choice of room.

Activities

With the Tsingy of Bemaraha (Madagascar's iconic limestone forest) on your doorstep, your trip will likely include at least a couple of scenic hikes into the crevasses and rats the limestone needles create, and some dips in in the river, lemur-spotting as you go. Otherwise, spend time learning about the local culture and meet members of the community, or, for the extra adventurous, plan an extended stay with a multi-day boating excursion down the Tsiribihina River. There's also plenty to keep young minds engaged at the Kid's Club.
