Mostly built from wood, thatch and stone, Olympe's communal areas are easy-going and relaxed. Colourful dishes from the kitchen are served up on just as colourful woven placemats, and you'll likely dine on the terrace as often as possible. In the afternoon, grab a drink from the circular bar and head down to the seasonal pool for a dip or snooze - and that beautiful view. If you'd like a break from exploring, there is a TV lounge, library and games area, and a small spa offers massages too.
Choose a room in the main hotel or in the separate wooden bungalows, all of which are adorned with bright patterns and polished wooden furnishings, including large canopy beds. The bungalows are ideal for added privacy and come with their own pool, entrance and balcony. They also cater well to small families with space for three. The bathrooms are neat and well-stocked but the size does vary depending on your choice of room.
With the Tsingy of Bemaraha (Madagascar's iconic limestone forest) on your doorstep, your trip will likely include at least a couple of scenic hikes into the crevasses and rats the limestone needles create, and some dips in in the river, lemur-spotting as you go. Otherwise, spend time learning about the local culture and meet members of the community, or, for the extra adventurous, plan an extended stay with a multi-day boating excursion down the Tsiribihina River. There's also plenty to keep young minds engaged at the Kid's Club.
Walk across plunging chasms and spiky tsingy and bring a new meaning to ‘out of this world.'
