About One&Only Le Saint Géran Hotel

An elegant, family-friendly resort on the paradise island of Mauritius.
This property is closed for refurbishment until 16 October 2024. Mauritius is one of the most beautiful islands in the Indian Ocean - an enticing holiday destination of glorious palm-fringed beaches, warm azure oceans, and lush tropical forests. And the grand dame of hotels? The One&Only Saint Geran. Located on a private peninsula on the glamorous northeast coast, there's over a mile of perfect powdery sand on the doorstep, as well as watersports galore, four fabulous restaurants and an award-winning ESPA spa. Property details

The property

Despite a makeover in 2013, the Saint Geran is reassuringly old-fashioned - and we love it. Think gleaming marble floors in the reception area, solid white pillars and sprawling, perfectly-manicured gardens around the swimming pool. The four restaurants offer world-class dining, from traditional Mauritian seafood and grills to modern Indian cuisine, all whisked up by celebrity and Michelin-starred chefs. Send the kids to the play area and dedicated pool (watched over by eagle-eyed staff) and sip cocktails in the elegant pool bar, or head to the secluded spa for a blissful treatment or yoga session.

The rooms

The resort has 163 suites and villas set amongst the tropical gardens, but somehow, it never feels particularly busy or crowded. All rooms are lavish and luxurious, with airy living spaces, polished interiors and sleek furnishings. Marble bathrooms have rain showers, enormous baths and a selection of aromatherapy oils, and outside, you'll find a private balcony or terrace. If you fancy something a little extra, book into the villa - a spectacular, two-bedroom home with gleaming kitchen (complete with private chef, of course), out-of-this-world views, and your own pool.

Activities

There's a huge choice of activities at the Saint Geran, from water sports of all descriptions, a superb nine-hole golf course, floodlit tennis courts, and an award-winning spa and fitness centre. There's a special Kids Club too, with excellent, supervised activities, or you might like to take the kids on a bicycle tour of the island. Saint Geran also has its own Kitesurfing and PADI Scuba Centre, with sheltered coral reefs providing excellent diving and snorkelling.

With four different restaurants to choose from, it's almost impossible to get bored of the food. Keep your eyes peeled (and save some room!) for the all you can eat sushi.

Insiders Tip

Take a paddle board out onto the lagoon side of the island for perfectly calm and bathtub-warm waters. Or leave the paddle board behind and just relax in the shallows!
Something to think about

Something to think about

This is a big, well-run, family-friendly resort with fantastic service. Perfect for some, but if it's peaceful, boutique-style accommodation you're looking for, it might not be the one for you.
