About Pioneers Victoria Falls

A picturesque lodge in walking distance from one of the Natural Wonders of the World.
Not far from the infamous 'smoke that thunders', Pioneers is an elegant yet modern offering on a trip to Victoria Falls. The lodge doesn't just look good either, it also takes care of its corner of the world, being almost entirely solar-powered and a proud partner of the Victoria Falls Wildlife Trust. Set in pretty gardens with colourful blooms in every direction, you'll be primed for moments of relaxation in between safari and adrenaline-inducing activities. Speaking of which, there are scenic hikes to the very edge of the Falls and heli-flips for the best view around. Then, return for a chilled craft beer made with water from the Zambezi.

Property details

The property

Pioneers' main hub is the lounge, dining and bar area, the latter a rugged, industrial-style watering hole overlooking the garden. You can choose to have meals alfresco too, or in the stylish dining room with printed, high-back chairs and local decor. In your down time, the homely lounge is fantastic for digging into a new book or pull up an armchair on the terrace. Pioneers also boasts two pools (one for wading), a spa, and a curio market for picking up some souvenirs.

The rooms

Pioneers may have a total of 50 rooms but it certainly doesn't feel like it. Each room is spacious and individually-decorated in fun, nature-themed prints. The rooms are polished and thoughtfully designed with plenty of natural light and views of the garden. Each room has a double or twin beds, air-conditioning and tea and coffee facilities. The en-suite bathrooms are complete with a shower and double vanity area and there are also four family rooms, which are more than comfortable if you're bringing the kids.

Activities

You don't come to Victoria Falls to sit in your room and there are a million things to do here! Take in the spectacle from the walkways along the precipice, a boat trip in the mist below, or from the air on the 'Flight of the Angels'. For real adrenaline-seekers, there's bungee jumping or the gorge swing, a 70-metre freefall before swinging through the gorge below. Otherwise, go wildlife-spotting on a canoeing safari, white-water rafting, or enjoy a sunset cruise on the Zambezi.

What you'll love

What you'll love

Pioneers is as private or social as you'd like it to be, with gorgeous rooms to retreat to but well-placed communal areas to mingle with others too.
Insiders tip

Insiders Tip

While the famous Falls will no doubt have your attention, enjoy some of the other activities too. These include a few hours at the Elephant Wallow (you can feed and watch them play in the mud) or Siduli Hide to see wildlife up-close.
Something to think about

Something to think about

Pioneers is especially family-friendly with its large gardens and jovial atmosphere. You can even go on a canopy tour, if some of the more thrilling activities are too much.
