The guest area at the centre of the camp is a huge canvas tent with roll-up mesh sides sheltering the comfortable lounge and open-plan dining area. The feel is one of functional simplicity, with modern styles in neutral tones, inviting armchairs and cosy rugs, and sturdy dining tables and chairs. A well stocked bar, and tea and coffee-making facilities are available throughout the day – a great spot to enjoy a drink and watch the river flowing past.
Ten safari tents, each with a double and single bed, fan out on either side of the main area along the Ntiakatiak River. They are comfortable and unfussy, with fresh natural colours, chunky modern furniture and soft rugs under foot. Three of the four sides are made entirely of mosquito screens, letting in welcome cool breezes, plenty of light, and the sounds of the surrounding bush. En-suite bathrooms have flushing toilets, bucket showers and hot water on request.
Early morning, afternoon and night game drives with expert local guides are the order of the day. Expect to see a variety of plains game, larger predators and the ever-present prides of lion for which this region is renowned. Guided bush walks with armed rangers are also offered, together with day trips to the neighbouring Mara Reserve during the annual wildebeest migration. Cultural visits to Maasai villages and hot air balloon safaris can be arranged at an extra cost.
