Property details

The property

What was once a thriving 12th-century village is now an exquisite countryside retreat, complete with original chapel and watchtower standing proudly among the rolling hills. The heated infinity pool offers spectacular views across the UNESCO-protected landscape, while the rustic Osteria el Canonica wine bar beckons with tapas-style nibbles between adventures. Gourmands will be utterly spoiled at Ristorante el Campo del Drago, where Tuscan specialities are served against a backdrop of vineyard-dotted valleys. For those seeking active pursuits, the estate boasts Italy's only private golf club (exclusively for members and guests), tennis courts, and seasonal activities from olive picking to horseback riding. After a day exploring, retreat to the earth-toned spa with its sauna, steam bath and private garden - the perfect spot for contemplating which of the estate's renowned wines to sample next.

The rooms

Scattered across the estate in what were once villagers' homes, the 42 suites exude authentic Tuscan charm with exposed wooden beams, antique furnishings and artisanal textiles. For the ultimate indulgence, 11 restored farmhouses from the 17th and 18th centuries dot the landscape, each offering complete privacy and equipped with heated infinity pools, pergolas, and lush gardens. These villas feature kitchens designed by Florentine master Riccardo Barthel, though with the splendid dining options available, you may rarely feel inclined to use them. Each accommodation offers its own unique character, yet all share the same breathtaking views across the pristine Tuscan countryside that has remained largely unchanged for centuries.
