Property details

The property

There is no ostentatious atmosphere at Sabuk lodge. The main lodge and dining area is thoughtfully laid out with locally crafted furniture that is homely and comfortable, designed to maximise the beautiful views in comfort. Scattered around are hammocks and colourful day beds a delightful bar area and fireplace all perfect for ret stops between game drives. Dinner at the main table under the stars catered to be welcoming and first-rate staff.

The rooms

The six beautiful open sided en suite cottages are unique in their design, with the aptly named Eagle Cottage, perfect for families, including its own plunge pool and private dining area. Here you sleep under thick thatch roofs and atmospheric stone masoned walls and floors. Hand carved furniture, four poster beds and earthy african materials to blend seamlessly into the surrounding bush. With no glass facing outwards there is nothing but you and the view from the sunken stone baths.

Activities

Being situated on private land as opposed to a national park activities like guided bush walks and walking safaris are not restricted to specific routes. There is a decent enough broad range of wildlife to view on camel assisted walking safaris, daily game drives, river fishing and the option of fly camping out in the bush with an experienced guide. Around the lodge the views from the swimming pool extending out over the cliff will keep you occupied for hours.

There are plenty of epic experiences on offer but leaping into the Ewaso Nyiro River with your Samburu guide is pretty memorable.

Everything is run by solar panels, so forget the hairdryer and internet because you are going to want to immerse yourself in the sounds of the Kenyan bush.
