About Serondela Lodge

Find chic intimacy at this eco-lodge on the Chobe River's Namibian banks.
Serondela Lodge is a newcomer to Namibia’s range of luxury lodges on the Chobe River. With just eight rooms, including a larger family unit, you can expect a wonderfully personal experience, and and a sense that you have the magnificent views of the river all to yourself. What sets Serondela apart from the rest is its innovative eco-friendly design, with an organic flow that follows the contours of the river’s edge. It’s only accessible by boat, so game viewing begins right away as you cruise along the Chobe, famous for the huge numbers of elephant drawn to the water.

Property details

The property

The central guest area sits on a raised deck and consists of two comfortable lounges, a spacious dining room and a chic bar, all with fabulous river views. The quirky design incorporates sandbag walls and natural timber in organic, flowing shapes created to catch the cool breezes off the water – they also do a marvellous job of keeping the fierce summer heat at bay. In front of the lodge is a swimming pool and sundeck surrounded by lush lawns.

The rooms

Eight spacious en-suite chalets, one of which is a family unit, are well spaced a short stroll from the main lodge, all with balconies that face directly onto the Chobe River and Chobe National Park on the far side. Interiors are stylish yet simple and uncluttered, with natural colours and textures throughout. Thanks to the insulation provided by the sandbag walls, you’ll be cosy in winter and delightfully cool in summer.

Activities

Serondela’s position within a private conservancy gives you the privilege of exploring this wildlife-rich part of Namibia far from the busier parts of Chobe National Park. Game viewing is excellent, and the region is famous for the herds of elephant and buffalo that swell to astonishing numbers during the dry winter months. Expect to see lion, leopard, spotted hyena, a variety of plains game, and abundant birdlife. Boat cruises and fishing trips add to a fabulous all-round safari experience.
