Simbavati River Lodge has one spacious communal structure with an expansive deck overlooking the river. The structure is stone-floored and roofed with thatch, and is open-sided to let in the breeze on hot summer days. The furnishings are rustic but comfortable to make you feel like you're at home, and the decor cleverly blends with the surroundings. There is also a gift shop, a small library and games to play. And when you're in need of a little rejuvenation, head to the spa! Outside, a cool swimming pool sparkles and clusters of directors' chairs line the deck. Dinner is a festive occasion, served around the campfire in the boma or in the thatched dining area.
You have a few options for accommodation, with comfortable tents fit to meet your every need. Luxury tents offer views of the river or the plain, and family suites are built from stone and thatch to accommodate four to five guests. With humble furnishings, the accommodation comes with all the desired creature comforts, including en-suite bathroom facilities, outdoor showers, and a deck. All accommodation has a coffee station, air-conditioning, minibars and electric blankets for chilly winter evenings.
Discover this photographers' paradise on guided day and night game drives in open 4x4 vehicles to explore Timbavati's 12 000 hectares, home to the Big Five as well as other species such as kudu, zebra, warthog, giraffe and monkey. Bird-viewing is excellent (more than 360 species have been recorded). Indulge in a sundowner taking in the beauty of an African sunset. Alternatively, relax with a cold beverage or afternoon tea on the deck and absorb the peace and solitude.
