About Singita Sweni Lodge

An Intimate, effortless and luxurious safari experience

Perched in the riverine firest overlooking the meandering Sweni River in the secluded eastern Kruger Park, Singita Sweni is the smaller, intimate version of adjacent big brother Singita Lebombo. The surroundings are lush, the wildlife viewing is really good (this is Big Five paradise and the nearby Lebombo Mountains are renowned for their prides of lion) and the lodge itself is a wonderfully luxurious retreat. Explore the wilderness and its animals, admire the rock formations, watch the river and the bountiful birdlife from your personal glass-boxed treehouse, and enjoy five-star cuisine. Singita Sweni is hard to beat.

Property details

The property

The communal areas are simple but stylish. Also stilted, with dark wooden floors and walls and sage green and cream soft furnishings, both the dining and seating areas are very tranquil. Settle down on a sinuous woven lounger to gaze at the view of the trees and the river. The cellar is vast, the food is fabulous, the staff are attentive, the library is well-stocked; there's a spa, a swimming pool, a gym and a shop (some facilities are shared by Sweni Lebombo).

The rooms

Wooden walkways lead to six suites, arranged for maximum privacy. Each suite blends beautifully with the surroundings, with earthy tones and fabrics used throughout. The interiors are air conditioned, with a large mosquito-netted bed, comfortable seating and a beautiful bathroom complete with tub and indoor and outdoor showers (especially lovely when the elephants are bathing in the river beneath you!). Outside, the viewing deck has a day bed, or a night bed if you like to sleep under the stars.

Activities

Day and night game drives are the prime activities at Singita Sweni. To access your inner wild soul, go on a walking safari, or take a gentler bush walk to focus on the creatures missed from a vehicle – reptiles, insects and the profuse number of birds. There's even guided mountain biking. Visit the Singita School of Cooking where members of the local community are trained in the culinary arts. Dip in the pool or have a massage.

With the lodge’s proximity to the river, you are treated to up-close sightings of numerous animals and birds frequenting the area to drink or wallow in the water.

The area is known for excellent general game viewing and diverse birdwatching. If it is leopards you are after, opt for one of the Singita properties in the Sabi Sands instead.
