The setting has a charming, village feel with a chapel, tile-roofed buildings and spectacular gardens surrounding a central “square,” complete with a tinkling water fountain. Cobblestone pathways connect the terraces and buildings and the common areas all feature quaint décor but with additional modern touches and amenities. The included breakfast buffet is a delight and there’s a separate coffee shop, deli and even an Italian trattoria.
The hotel’s colonial-style rooms are spread across four wings. All have hardwood floors and stone details that add to the historic feel. Unbelievable mountain views are standard in every room, as are flatscreen TVs, individual heating, and ample bathrooms with both a tub and a shower. The bigger, more luxurious master or superior suites offer separate living rooms with comfy sofas or two separate rooms for privacy, while family rooms with up to four beds are also available.
The town of Yucay, where the hotel is located, is quiet but Urubamba is a short 5-minute drive away and has plenty of restaurants and shops on offer. Although the hotel doesn’t have tours per se, the 24-hour guest services team are happy to assist with tours and recommend activities in the Sacred Valley, from the Maras salt pans to Ollantaytambo and anything in between. And don’t miss out on the Pisco sour making and tasting class at the bar!
