The Altes Farmhaus is the lodge's simple and tastefully decorated reception, restaurant and common area. It's located three kilometers from the actual accommodation. Here you'll be greeted with a cold welcome drink upon arrival and directed to your tent. Outside you'll find a lovely shade-dappled patio and pool area complete with under-cover hammock. Meals are served from the farmhouse - breakfasts usually in the garden and dinners inside by candlelight. Unwind here after a long day's drive or catch up with the world with free wi-fi.
There are two markedly different styles of accommodation here, though they maintain the same price point. All six rooms are perched on a dune overlooking the vast desert. Each are appointed with a mini fridge and its own view-exploiting bathroom and shower, accessed by a few meters of boardwalk - all in the name of making the most of every experience. The three tent houses are comfortably and tastefully furnished with large, high-backed lounge chairs and a colorful rug. They enjoy more interior space than the three cabin tents which are a bit tight inside but possess an ample outdoor veranda.
You'll mostly find plains game roaming the 10,000 acres of this Kalahari farm - from giraffe, eland and wildebeest to Hartmann’s mountain zebra, impala, oryx and kudu (amongst other species). Because there are no predators here, self-guided walks are possible - just be sure to get an early start, before the Namibian heat sets in. If you want to take a hike, well-marked trails from 5-20 km await you. Too shy to set out on your own? The lodge offers guided walks at an extra cost - as well as guided game drives if you wish.
A boundless sandy beauty that hides more wildlife than you might first expect…
