The main area consists of a broad, commodious tent, which encompasses several intimate seating areas, plus a long bar where both espresso and cocktails are served. The décor is elegant: staggered chandeliers, heavy drapery surrounding the tent sides, handsome fabrics on cushioned chases and high-backed leather chairs. A dining room is set with long tables for convivial diners or intimate tables for two. Its top feature by far is its view, sweeping and expansive, over the lake which seems to shift according to the time of day.
The ten rooms each display a Japanese-style simplicity in décor, in order to emphasize what is also their most important feature: 180-degree vistas. The extensive pull-away flaps allows for unobstructed views and that quintessential outside-in feel. The king-sized beds face outward, ensuring sunrise is a natural alarm clock (yes, you can draw the curtains if you like). Ensuite bathrooms are spacious and well-equipped with a shower and a stand-alone tub, which is also superbly placed to maximize the panoramas.
The Cliff is the ideal place to truly wind-down after a busy safari. Its location lends itself to lingering at the lodge – perhaps a little longer for the morning's truly impressive continental breakfast. However, there is plenty to see in the way of animals and terrain. Don't forget you can spot some serious wildlife - lion, leopard, buffalo and rhino are all within the park - and of course the iconic flamingos and water birds attracted to the soda lake. Game drives are as adventurous or leisurely as you like and guides are flexible with departure times.
Watch white rhino wander among the fever trees and keep your binos ready for the phenomenal birdlife.
