The Nest @ Serian

The solid platform is nestled in the sturdy branches of a huge tree, with open sides at the front and reed walls around the back, sheltered from the elements beneath swathes of canvas and the dense leafy canopy. The raw, back-to-nature feel is softened with small luxuries like soft rugs underfoot, hurricane lanterns and candles, and squashy beanbags, and it comes with an infra-red spotlight and night-vision camera for night-time game viewing.

A timber stepladder leads up several metres into the tree and onto the platform, which has two comfortable nest-shaped double beds beneath the canvas canopy, facing out onto the river. Depending on your requirements, there’s plenty of space for extra bedrolls, which makes this a great option for a family – kids love it! There’s a flush toilet at the back behind a reed screen, and a bucket shower at the foot of the treehouse with hot water on request.

Watch the pod of hippo in the river below, and enjoy some excellent birdwatching from your vantage point in the tree. At night, look out for leopard and spotted hyena with the infra-red spotlight and night-vision camera. Guided bush walks head out from The Nest into the conservancy, offering the chance to see elephant, buffalo, lions, and abundant plains game. This is a walking-only region; game drives are offered in the neighbouring Mara North Private Conservancy.
