About The Oberoi Zahra Luxury Nile Cruiser

Sail along the placid, topaz waters of the Nile and take a deep dive into its history.
The Nile. The longest river in the world, a watery tapestry along which much of Egypt's history has played out, and the site of more than a few adventure stories - and on the Oberoi Zahra, you'll have the chance to explore the winding highways on one of its finest riverboats. Whilst on board, cool off with a dip in the pool, head to the spa for an Arabian coffee scrub, and take in the exquisite scenery without moving a muscle. When you dock, the resident Egyptologist will be by your side to show you from one serene temple to the next, sharing their fascinating beginnings as you go.

Property details

The property

A sophisticated, three-storey riverboat, The Oberoi Zahra is well-equipped for a luxury float. Decorated with polished timber and marble floors, and plenty of eye-catching red lamps, the restaurant serves an a la carte menu that changes daily. Relax with a game of cards in the lounge or grab a cocktail while traditional Nubian music plays. For an intimate evening setting, the Cigar Lounge offers spectacular sunset views through the panoramic windows. On the rooftop deck, there is a temperature-controlled pool with a bevy of blue and white striped loungers.

The rooms

The Oberoi Zahra has 25 cabins and suites, each decorated with a neutral palette, timber floors and locally-themed artwork. The views are fantastic from anywhere in the room, including the en-suite shower or bathtub. There are just two suites and they're worth asking for; both come with a spacious living room and private terrace with a heated whirlpool. Other amenities include high-speed Wi-Fi, a tea/coffee maker and mini bar. And each morning when you pull the curtains back, that view never ceases to amaze.

Activities

Beginning in Aswan or Luxor, the cruise will take you to see the famous High Dam, which led to a number of the Nile's well-known monuments being moved. Explore the West Bank, stopping in the Valley of the Kings where Tutankhamun was exhumed, and the hallowed Colossi of Memnon. Along the way, you'll see some of Egypt's most revered temples, 'read' Hieroglyphics from the wind-worn facades, and explore the dreamy river islands. Often dubbed the best way to see Egypt, this will be a cruise to remember.
