Step back into traditional luxury as you enter the Royal Livingstone. The lounge and bar are classically furnished with wing-backed chairs, plush sofas and chandeliers. The dining room offers fine à la carte meals (the patio's good for less formal dining). Relax on the sundeck perched over the river, and gather there at sunset for sundowners. There's a spa, a gym, a curio shop and a pool. Or just doze in a hammock beside the rushing river.
Book one of 169 luxury rooms, three junior suites and a presidential suite. The rooms are elegant, with twin or king-sized beds, an en-suite bathroom with separate bath and shower, and all the mod cons you'd expect – wi-fi, a minibar, satellite TV and a tea-and coffee-making station. Junior suites are double the size of the luxury rooms with similar amenities, plus a dressing area and a separate lounge. The presidential suite is, well, bigger, with appropriately grand facilities.
There's a dizzying menu of activities on offer, so let the staff at the hotel activity desk help plan your adventure. Combine the thrilling – white-water rafting, bungee jumping, microlight flights, heli flips or canoe safaris – with the chilling – afternoon tea in the beautiful grounds, river cruising at sundown or a picnic on the banks of the river. Visits to Victoria Falls themselves are of course, on the agenda, and you can take a guided walk, amble on your own or do both. You may also like to head into nearby Livingstone for a taste of local life – and the market!
