Upon arrival, guests will find the reception area on the ground floor level, where helpful staff can arrange excursions and provide inside information about the many local attractions. From here, raised wooden walkways lead up to the main bungalow perched on stilts above the coastal dunes and natural reed beds. A small lounge area and a cheery breakfast room face out across the surrounding landscape and out to sea. WiFi is available throughout the lodge, including all guest bungalows.
The Stiltz offers a choice of nine double or twin raised wooden bungalows, and two larger and more luxurious bungalow villas which are best for families. The bungalows are well spaced along the walkways leading from the main area, four with sea views, and the rest overlooking the Swakops River mouth and lagoon which teems with birdlife. Each is en-suite, with a small balcony. Thatched roofs and cosy timber interiors with colourful furnishings create a feeling of rustic beach-style comfort.
The Stiltz is well placed for exploring the coastline and lagoon, and just a short walk from Swakopmund. If you feel like staying put, you can relax and enjoy a spot of birdwatching from the comfort of your balcony. However, Swakopmund is a delightful little town with a distinct German feel, and it’s well worth checking out the local restaurants, art galleries and shops. Further afield, a range of adventure activities include dune boarding, horse riding, kayaking, and desert excursions.
