The camp blends the natural environment, with its eco-friendly approach enhanced with modern amenities. The communal area comprises a small thatched dining room with an intimate bar/lounge and traditional fireside boma – where most evenings are spent. Enjoy an alfresco dinner as you swap adventure stories and plan the next day's activities (the food is simple but well prepared and satisfying). Don't miss the local made artefacts on the walls – they make for some interesting photographs.
Hurricane lamps light up the path, creating a fairytale walkway between the communal area and 10 thatch-sheltered canvas tents. All are spacious, with big roll-up windows that offer gorgeous views of the surrounding landscape. Locally made beds and plant- or animal-themed linen, en-suite bathrooms with rustic basins and a bucket shower (the water is piping hot and plentiful) complete the accommodation. Take your morning coffee on your private veranda and watch the sun brighten the landscape.
Apart from view-gazing and birdwatching (reasons in themselves for a Tindiga visit), you shouldn't miss a guided walking safari to Lake Eyasi where you'll hopefully see flamingos feeding in the shallows. Visit the Hadzabe and book yourself a spot on a hunt. Then spend a few hours at a nearby village to see the Datoga people busy with their traditional metalworking skills.
The home of the Hadzabe tribe is truly captivating and offers a unique touch to an intrepid safari.
