About Tipilikwani Mara Camp

Immerse yourself in the Great Migration
You'll want to be in the iconic Masai Mara National Reserve between June and October to witness the Great Migration, as hundreds of thousands of wildebeest and zebra brave the crocodile infested waters of the Mara River and cross into Kenya. And you'll most definitely want to be at Tipilikwani! The pretty thatched lodge is perched on the banks of the Talek River and offers some of the best seats in the house for the thundering herds. There aren't many lodges that can boast one of the natural world's greatest phenomenons in their back yard, that's for sure...

Property details

The property

Set under thatch, the large dining and lounge area is filled with heavy-set couches and grand armchairs, just crying out to be lounged upon. Outside, there's a swimming pool for laid-back afternoons and a fire boma to chase away the chill in the evening. The restaurant has tables indoors and outdoors, and each has fantastic views across the river. Dining brings three-course meals and a dazzling selection of wines, all served with a smile.

The rooms

The twenty luxury tents are wonderfully spacious with rich earthy tones in the decor - particular favourites are the handcrafted wooden furniture and beautiful writer’s desk. Otherwise each room comes with double bed, tiled bathroom with shower, flush loo and splashy his and hers washbasins, and a pretty patio with a view.

Activities

Game drives set off early in the morning and again in the afternoon, but full-day drives in the Mara ecosystem are also a popular choice. When in Rome as they say...! There will only ever be six guests per safari vehicle at Tipilikwani, which means more silence at sightings and individual attention from your guide - always a good thing. If you’re interested in a balloon safari over the Mara, then this is the place to do it...

What you'll love

What you'll love

The view from the main area feels like a private movie screen of the African wilderness - you won't be able to take your eyes off it.
