About Tloma Lodge

A perfect purse-friendly lodge close to the action of the Ngorongoro Crater.
This large lodge has been built with similar specifications to its big brother camp, Ngorongoro Farm House. It serves as a comfortable, simple and affordable launch pad for excursions into the wilderness beyond. It is set amongst beautiful flowering gardens with stunning views of the surrounding coffee plantations that stretch all the way to the eastern wall of the Ngorongoro Crater. And there’s even a heated pool for day or night dips!

Property details

The property

Tloma’s communal areas are very large and informal. The lounge has an interesting mix of functional furniture that flows from one room to the next, while the dining area is a sprawling space with hardwood tables and iron chairs. And all ingredients come from the farm itself. The lodge looks out onto impressive views of the plantations, the Oldeani extinct volcano and the eastern wall of the Ngorongoro Crater. Tloma offers only the basics, but in a relaxed, inviting atmosphere.

The rooms

There are 24 spacious, colonial farm-style cottages and 12 rooms in the main house. Interiors are minimal and uncomplicated, with tiled floors, white-washed walls, comfortable chairs and a coffee table. Four-poster beds with mosquito nets serve as a welcome comfort at the end of a hard day’s exploration. The private veranda is a great place to put your feet up and take in the views of the functioning farm and the distant Highlands.

Activities

The main activity of the area is, of course, a driven safari in the Ngorongoro Crater, topped off with a private lunch in the crater itself. One of the best ways to take in the little treasures of this emerald paradise, is on foot. Walking in the greater Ngorongoro Conservation area reveals beautiful scenery, incredible birdlife and even a waterfall, while a cultural walk with the local Maasai people will let you into the secrets of their ancient culture. Worn out? Relax with a soothing massage at the lodge.

In comparison to other lodges in the Ngorongoro area, Tloma's design is less luxe and more functional. Sometimes, that's all you need!
