Property details

The property

Tucked under a shady grove of trees, the heart of Tongabezi is the Tonga Lounge, a reading and dining haven with a casual cocktail bar and sumptuous river jetty. Next to this is the ultimate chill-out area, The Lookout which does exactly as its name suggests and offers fabulous views over the Zambezi from enormous sofas and leather armchairs on multiple levels.

The rooms

Accommodation is either in one of the riverside cottages, filled with handsome local furniture and giant wood and glass doors leading out to the vast decks, or in one of the five quirky houses. Individually designed, each is very different but whichever you choose you certainly won’t be disappointed; relax in your own private pool at the Nut House, retreat to the Dog House (hopefully for the right reasons!) or sink into the claw-footed bath at the Bird House.

Activities

Activities are focused on Victoria Falls and range from daredevil white-water rafting, bungee jumping and micro-light flights to serene day and sunset boat cruises, picnics on Livingstone Island and visits to Tujutane, the Tongabezi school. For animal lovers, guided nature and bird walks are available as are day trips to Mosi-o-Tunya National Park and Chobe on the Botswana border. And of course you can’t go wrong with a day spent in camp, practicing the forgotten art of hibernation.
