The resort has a host of dining spots including all-day CasCades, where you can tuck into authentic Balinese cuisine beneath the bamboo roof and sip on a much-loved Ping Pong, a blissful lychee martini. Renowned as one of Indonesia's finest restaurants, Aperitif offers a fantastic degustation menu while the Pinstripe Bar has a moody, speakeasy vibe and serves expertly crafted cocktails. With sweeping valley views and tranquil water features, the Akoya Spa is a little slice of paradise.

With bright, tropical interiors, the Viceroy has a total of 40 villas, all with lofty ceilings and glossy, cream-tiled floors. Each one opens onto a private terrace, some of which have private, heated pools and traditional bale seating areas. The bathrooms are luxurious and wonderful with deep bathtubs, rainfall showers, and some are even alfresco. There is a duo of two-bedroom villas, the largest of which has a semi-outdoor living and dining area, grassy lawns and a 15-metre heated pool.

There is a number of things to do on-site including morning yoga sessions, games of squash or croquet, or Balinese blessing ceremonies. For the more active, get your steps in along the scenic Campuhan Ridge Walk, hike the Batur volcano at sunrise, or cycle from one quaint village to the next. And for the truly adventurous, try the white water rafting! If history is your bag, admire the hand-carved reliefs at the former residence of Ubud's last king.
