Vilanculos Beach Lodge

The large thatched main building exudes a romantic African-Asian ambiance. The high-ceilinged, open-plan structure is home to a spacious lounge, bar and restaurant, and dotted around are plenty of comfortable sofas and enormous floor cushions with exceptional views of the sea. The outdoor deck can be covered with awnings should it (hopefully not!) rain, or enjoyed in full sunlight or cool shade. At the front of the property are the pretty gardens, with lots of private seating nooks and the infinity pool and Jacuzzi. Lovely.

The bungalows at Vilanculos Beach Lodge are tastefully built with local wood and thatch, and tucked into the hillside. The 22 luxury bungalows are the highest on the hill, and shady balconies offer fabulous ocean views. Luxury chalets are 100 metres from the beach and each have an outdoor patio, whilst the presidential suite is built on stilts for the ultimate views across the ocean and islands beyond. All rooms offer enormous king-size beds, ensuite bathrooms and soothing decor.

There's plenty to keep you busy in Vilanculos and its surroundings. Explore the rich habitats of the Bazaruto Archipelago on diving, snorkelling, kayaking and sailing expeditions, or pack a picnic and find a secluded beach to chill out on. Fishing is good year-round, and horse riding is an excellent way to explore the coastline, with the wind in your hair. Adrenaline seekers will enjoy kite surfing (especially Sept-Feb), parasailing and helicopter flips. Otherwise, enjoy the bar service from your sun lounger and don't think about anything else...
