About Villa Playa Tayrona

An adults-only slice of paradise where the Colombian wilderness melts into the Caribbean.
On the northern coast of Colombia, there's a secret, serene corner where the river meets the ocean and it's right here that you'll find the Villa Playa Tayrona. Just five minutes away from the entrance to Tayrona National Park, the seaside escape has the best of all worlds. We're talking a private stretch of Caribbean shore, epic hikes into the forest and river adventures — and much more! This is the kind of place where you can be as active or idle as you like, the latter of which takes the form of a hammock swaying gently beneath the palms.

Property details

The property

Fresh and tropical interiors mirror the surroundings with white-washed walls, juicy splashes of green, and minimalist wooden furnishings. The restaurant serves organic, locally-inspired dishes, all prepared in a small, open-air kitchen, which will undoubtedly be some of the best you'll taste in Colombia. There are ample spaces to recline and relax including the pool, which overlooks both the Rio Pedra and Caribbean Sea. When you're not snoozing on the beach or off exploring the national park, enjoy a massage – they're not to be missed.

The rooms

The villa has just six bedrooms, each draped in white, beachy linens and decorated with wooden furnishings and local Colombian art. All have a stunning view of the Sierra Nevada de Santa, the world's largest coastal mountain range. Each room can fit three, with a King-sized and a single bed, and they all have aircon and ceiling fans to keep you cool - essential. Then there are the cabanas, which boast their own terrace overlooking the river. The bathrooms are slick in all-white with double basins.

Activities

There are several trails within Tayrona National Park, where you might spy one of the 300 species of birdlife, including toucans, blue-headed parrots and the Andean condor. The park is home to over 100 mammal species and includes a protected marine area for dolphin and sea turtle spotting. There are also hikes to significant archaeological ruins, offering an insight into the history of the Tayrona people, or you can travel from beach to beach, swimming and snorkelling, kayaking and surfing along the way.
