At the heart of the house, an open-plan and beautifully furnished living area, library and bar lead out to the clipped lawns and sparkling swimming pool – a blissful sight in the heat of the summer! Pretty breakfast tables are laid out around the courtyard in the morning and coffee can be sipped and pastries scoffed as the birds twitter overhead. The Villa doesn’t serve lunch or dinner but there’s an honesty bar and small kitchen if a takeaway and a cold beer takes your fancy.
The five rooms are subtly stylish, if a little small, and feel bright, modern and fun. Eye-catching maps hang on the walls and true to its name, you might spot a hint of violet around. You’ll also find all manner of gadgetry including a flatscreen TV, Wifi, hairdryer, air con and heating to name but a few and ensuite bathrooms with fantastically hot and invigorating showers – just the ticket after a long journey.
If you find yourself with an hour or two to spare, hosts Heidi and Ben are always on hand with their guidebook knowledge and book of taxi numbers! They can assist with cultural and historical tours of the city and visits to the Botanical Gardens, Diamond Museum and National Museum amongst others. Windhoek city centre and a multitude of shops, restaurants and markets is only a five minute drive away too should you need any last minute (or first!) souvenirs.
