From every corner of Wapa di Ume, you can gaze across shimmering rice fields, lush forest and, watching over it all, the impressive Mount Agung. The property

Sitting on the hillside overlooking a babbling river, the resort has a duo of two-tier infinity pools where snacks and drinks can be floated to you in baskets. Just next door is the open-air restaurant, which serves a menu of Indonesian and more global fare amongst bamboo columns. Bar57 has an extensive selection of wines and cocktails, tailor-made by the in-house mixologist. Ensconced by swaying palms, there is a breezy yoga pavilion where you can enjoy an hour on your mat accompanied by the sounds of nature.

The rooms

Spread across the shamrock-green grounds, there is a collection of rooms and suites, the latter boasting panoramic mountain views. All are fresh yet homely with four-poster, King-sized (or Hollywood style) beds, and chic bathrooms with a huge tub – enjoy a soak with a view! All rooms and suites have a private terrace, but the suites also have their own outdoor dining areas. There is also a villa option, which boasts its own pool surrounded by daybeds and plenty of plump cushions for lounging on.

Activities

You'll have the chance to explore the countryside on foot or bicycle, or on guided drives. Take the opportunity to swim beneath shimmering waterfalls, visit ancient temples and soak up the vistas that await you. The resort also offers an authentic Balinese cooking classes, beginning with a wander through the Sidemen Market to pick out fresh vegetables. Back at Wapa di Ume, learn all about the ingredients with the local chefs and prepare three delicious courses to enjoy for lunch.
